[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Meeting of the Town of Middlefield 5-9-1988 (Ch. 2, Art. II, § 2-17, of the 1990 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
There is hereby created a commission known as the "Municipal Employees Salary Study Commission."
The Commission's purposes shall be the following:
A. 
To review the salaries of Town employees and recommend to the Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance and other appropriate Town authorities such changes in salaries, including fringe benefits, of Town employees as the Commission shall deem advisable;
B. 
Upon the request of the Board of Selectmen, to prepare job descriptions for municipal positions the Selectmen propose to create;
C. 
Upon the request of the Board of Selectmen, to review job descriptions of current salaried municipal positions to assure conformity to similar positions in municipal government and private industry and to the actual work performed by those holding the positions; and to recommend such changes in those job descriptions as the Commission shall deem advisable.
The Commission shall consist of five members, all of whom shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen and none of whom shall be salaried employees of the Town.
Two members of the Municipal Employees Salary Study Commission shall be appointed to serve initial terms expiring December 31, 1989; two members shall be appointed to serve initial terms expiring December 31, 1990; and one member shall be appointed to serve an initial term expiring December 31, 1991. After their initial terms of office, all members or their successors shall be appointed to serve three-year terms.
