It shall be the duty of each Cemetery Superintendent to sell
the lots in the cemetery over which he is appointed, at the price
established by the City Council. The Superintendent shall give to
the purchaser of the cemetery lot the proper certificate, which shall
be countersigned by the City Treasurer. All moneys received from such
sales shall be paid directly into the City treasury.
The Cemetery Superintendents shall, under the direction of the
Board of Cemetery Trustees, annually notify all owners of lots in
their respective cemeteries of the displacement of any stones or monuments
on lots of such owners, and request the owners to reset, right and
place in position such stones and monuments within such time as the
Board shall designate.
The Cemetery Superintendents shall annually, under the direction
of the Board of Cemetery Trustees, reset, right and place in position
all stones and monuments on lots of owners unknown, or who shall not
be notified, receiving therefor such compensation as the Board shall
deem reasonable, which shall be paid out of the City treasury.
No body of a deceased person shall be interred in a grave less
than 4 1/2 feet in depth.
Every superintendent, funeral director or other person officiating
at any funeral within the limits of the City shall report in writing
to the City the name, age, and sex of the deceased, the cause and
place of death, whether the deceased was a resident or nonresident,
and the date and place of interment, giving the range and lot.
It shall be the duty of the Superintendent of Grove Cemetery
to care for and keep in good order and condition the burial lots in
Grove Cemetery wherein are buried the bodies of the late Nathaniel
Wilson, Alfred W. Johnson and Paul R. Hazeltine.
