There is hereby created the office of Deputy City Clerk. The Mayor shall, with the consent and approval of a majority of the members elected to the City Council, appoint some suitable and competent person to the office of Deputy City Clerk, who shall discharge such duties as are prescribed by law relating to such office under the supervision of the City Clerk of the City, together with such duties as are prescribed by this Article. Such person so appointed shall hold office during the pleasure of the Mayor and City Council, and in case a vacancy in such office occurs, such vacancy shall be filled by appointment of the Mayor and confirmation of the City Council.

Within fifteen (15) days after appointment, and before entering upon the discharge of the duties of the office, the Deputy City Clerk shall execute to the City a bond in a sum consistent with City policy, conditioned upon the faithful discharge of all the duties of the office, as required by State law and this Code and other ordinances of the City, and that the Deputy City Clerk will promptly pay over all monies coming into his/her possession that belong to the City, at the time and in the manner provided by law. The bond, with the Mayor's approval endorsed thereon, shall be filed in the office of the City Treasurer, who shall safely keep and preserve the same.

The Deputy City Clerk shall, under the supervision of the City Clerk, perform the duties of such Clerk as provided by Section 110.150.

The compensation of the Deputy City Clerk shall be fixed from time to time by the City Council.
