It shall be the duty of all members of the Fire Department to
respond immediately to each and every alarm turned in to the Fire
Department.

The Fire Department shall be under the direction of the Fire
Chief. The Fire Chief will be under the direction of the City Manager.

A member of the Fire Department may be removed in accordance
with the provisions of the City of Aurora Personnel Policies.

It shall be unlawful for any person to place any obstruction
within fifteen (15) feet of any fire hydrant in the City.
The City of Aurora hereby acknowledges the need for mutual aid
and automatic mutual aid agreements/contracts. These contracts provide
for mutual aid regarding emergency services provided by such Fire
Department, Fire Protection District or Volunteer Fire Protection
Association. The terms of these agreements/contracts shall include
the following:
A. The
Fire Department of the City of Aurora shall respond to requests for
emergency services in any part of the territory of the Fire Department,
Fire Protection District or Volunteer Fire Protection Association
and those parties shall respond to any part of the City of Aurora.
B. The
contract shall take effect and be in force commencing on passage by
the City of Aurora and approval of a like agreement by Fire Department,
Fire Protection District or Volunteer Fire Protection Association
for which the contract is specified. The contract will remain in force
indefinitely until either party terminates it with a sixty-day cancellation
notice.
C. The
contract may be terminated at any time during its term by the passage
of an ordinance to that effect by the City Council of the City of
Aurora or the Legislative Body of the Fire Department, Fire Protection
District or Volunteer Fire Protection Association, and written notice
hereof given to the other party hereto by serving on the City Clerk
or the Secretary of the Fire Department, Fire Protection District
or Volunteer Fire Protection Association a certified copy of such
ordinance/resolution terminating this contract.
D. The
consideration for the service of the Fire Department of each Fire
Department, Fire Protection District or Volunteer Fire Protection
Association shall be the service given for the protection of the lives
and property in such Fire Department, Fire Protection District or
Volunteer Fire Protection Association and no compensation shall accrue
or be paid by either parties for the service of the Fire Department,
Fire Protection District or Volunteer Fire Protection Association.
E. Neither
Fire Department, Fire Protection District or Volunteer Fire Protection
Association shall be liable to the other for failure to respond to
any call by the order of such Fire Department, Fire Protection District
or Volunteer Fire Protection Association, or for delay or negligence
or mistake in receiving or responding to any call, nor shall this
contract be interpreted as being an agreement for the benefit of any
third party.
F. Neither
Fire Department, Fire Protection District or Volunteer Fire Protection
Association shall be liable by reason of this contract to any firefighter,
official or employee of the other, nor shall any firefighter, official
or employee of either Fire Department, Fire Protection District or
Volunteer Fire Protection Association be considered for any purpose
a firefighter, official or employee of any Fire Department, Fire Protection
District or Volunteer Fire Protection Association other than the one
by which they are regularly employed.
G. In
case of loss or damage to the equipment or property of either Fire
Department, Fire Protection District or Volunteer Fire Protection
Association while responding to emergency alarms, such loss or damage
shall be borne by the Fire Department, Fire Protection District or
Volunteer Fire Protection Association owning such equipment or property.
