Stormwater sewers and sanitary sewers shall be entirely separate
and distinct in construction, use and operation.

Stormwater sewers may consist of natural or artificial watercourses,
open, underground or covered, whether located on or traversing private
grounds or on public streets, alleys or other public places.

No person shall discharge or allow the discharge of any sewage
into any stormwater sewer or to destroy, injure, obstruct or change
the course of any such sewer; except, that any landowner may straighten
or otherwise improve such course within his/her own grounds, if he/she
shall first have procured a permit from the Board of Aldermen authorizing
such change.

Sanitary sewers shall be in closed channels of suitable material
and constructed under the authority or permission of the City. From
all sanitary sewers, all drainage water from roofs, cisterns, yards,
lawns and public places and all ground or spring water shall be rigidly
and carefully excluded. No person shall destroy, injure, obstruct,
excavate around or open any sanitary sewer or discharge or allow to
be discharged into such sewer any drainage water. This Section shall
not be construed to forbid connections being made with sewers under
permit granted by the City.
