The purpose of the community resources commission is to:
(1)
Assist in the identification of present and potential human concerns
in the community;
(2)
Review and evaluate those concerns relative to needs deemed as being
of highest priority by the community resources commission; and
(3)
Resolve or recommend possible courses of action to the appropriate
commissions or Township Board regarding these concerns.
(4)
Implement sanctioned programs to meet community needs.

The community resources commission shall consist of not less
than seven nor more than nine members, to be appointed by the Township
Supervisor upon the recommendation of the Township Board. All members
of the commission shall be residents of Meridian Township, Michigan.
Commission members shall, insofar as possible, be representative of
the various professional, religious, cultural and socio-economic groups
in the Township. All appointments to the commission shall be for a
term of two years. In even-numbered calendar years, four to five members
shall be appointed to the commission and in odd-numbered years, three
to four members shall be appointed to the commission. In the event
of the death or resignation of any member, his or her successor shall
be appointed by the supervisor upon the recommendation of the Township
Board for the unexpired term. One member of the Township Board may
be a nonvoting ex-officio member of the commission. Members of the
community resources commission may be compensated at a rate to be
determined by the Township Board. Such rate of compensation, if any,
shall be established and may be revised, from time to time, by resolution
of the Township Board.

The commission, at its annual November meeting and at each annual
meeting thereafter, shall elect from its membership, a chair and a
vice-chair to serve for a period of one year. The commission shall
meet at least 10 times per year at the Township municipal building.
Special meetings shall be called by the chair, or upon the written
request of a majority of the members of the commission. A majority
of the members of the commission shall consist of more than half of
the current membership of the commission. All meetings shall be posted
and open to the public in accordance with the Open Meetings Act. The
commission shall adopt, by a majority vote as defined in this section,
such rules as it deems expedient for the conduct of its business.
A quorum shall consist of a majority of the voting members of the
commission, as defined in this section.

The duties of the community resources commission (CRC) shall
be to:
(1)
Determine and evaluate program direction for the year.
(2)
Provide oversight for any CRC fund, as appropriate.
(3)
Assist and support fund raising efforts for CRC program goals as
needed.
(4)
Encourage and support coordination of public and private organizations
involved in meeting human concerns.
(5)
Implement sanctioned programs to meet community needs.
(6)
Promote awareness of CRC, human concerns, and community resources
in the Township.

The community resources commission shall have the power to participate in the development and distribution of resources and educational materials which benefit the community. The commission shall advise and make recommendations to the Township Board when adopted by an affirmative vote of a majority of the voting members of the commission. A majority, as defined in § 2-198, shall consist of more than half of the current membership of the commission. The commission shall annually report its activities to the Township Board in January of each year.
