There is hereby established and created the Department of Emergency
Medical Services.

The Department shall be headed by the Chief of Emergency Medical
Services, who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and
consent of Borough Council.

The Chief of the Emergency Medical Services shall directly report
to and act under the Director of Public Safety. The chain of command
for departmental employees and volunteers shall function accordingly.
The Supervising Emergency Medical Technician shall be responsible
for day-to-day operations of emergency medical/first aid services,
emergency management services, paid and volunteer ambulance services,
911 compliance, right-to-know compliance and any other duties and
responsibilities under statute, regulations, ordinance or emergency
order generally performed by emergency service providers.
Emergency services shall be provided within the corporate boundary
lines of the Borough of Buena as well as in accordance with any existing
mutual aid agreement.
All volunteers shall maintain training standards and requirements
compliance equal to or greater than the standards and requirements
of the New Jersey Department of Health Emergency Medical Services.
All volunteers must be approved for service by the Public Safety Committee
upon the recommendation of the Supervising Emergency Medical Technician.
Volunteers may be suspended or removed by the Public Safety Committee
upon recommendation of the Supervising Emergency Medical Technician.
