The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this Article,
shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this Section, except where
the context clearly indicates a different meaning. When not inconsistent
with the context, words used in the present tense include the future,
words in the plural number include the singular number, and words
in the singular number include the plural number. The word "shall"
is always mandatory and not merely directory.
CITY
The City of Union, Missouri.
DEVIATING TRUCK
A truck which leaves and departs from a truck route while
traveling inside the City.
PERSON
Any person, firm, partnership, association, corporation,
company or organization of any kind.
TRUCK
Any vehicle designed or operated for the transportation of
property licensed to haul in excess of thirty thousand (30,000) pounds.
The term "truck" shall not include single-axle vehicles
licensed to haul thirty thousand (30,000) pounds or less.
TRUCK ROUTE
A way over certain streets, as designated in this Article,
over and along which trucks coming into and going out of the City
must operate.

A. All
trucks within the City shall be operated over and along the truck
routes established in this Article and on the other designated streets
over which truck travel is permitted, except that this Section shall
not prohibit:
1. The operation of trucks upon any street where necessary for the purpose
of delivering or picking up goods, wares or merchandise or providing
services to a person upon such streets.
2. The operation of emergency vehicles upon any street in the City.
3. The operation of trucks upon any officially established detour in
any case where such truck could lawfully be operated upon the street
for which such detour is established.
4. The operation of trucks upon any street where necessary for emergency
repairs or for the purpose of delivering the truck for maintenance
or repair at a licensed repair facility, provided such maintenance
or repair is not performed while the truck is parked on any public
street and said truck does not remain in an inoperable state for more
than twenty-four (24) hours on any public street.

A. There
are hereby established within the City the following truck routes:
1. Missouri Highway 47, within the corporate limits
of the City.
2. Missouri Highway 50, within the corporate limits
of the City.
3. Missouri Highway V, within the corporate limits
of the City.
4. Independence Drive, entire length.
5. Park Road, from Independence Drive east four-tenths
(0.4) of a mile to the last railroad spur cutoff.

A. Generally. Except as set forth in Section
395.020 pertaining to exceptions, all deviating trucks shall deviate from any such truck route the shortest distance possible when traveling to or from any destination within the corporate City limits.
B. Multiple Destination Points. All trucks entering the City
for multiple destination points shall proceed only over established
truck routes and shall deviate only at the intersection with the street
nearest to the first (1st) destination point. Upon leaving the first
(1st) destination point, a deviating truck shall proceed to other
destination points by the shortest direction. Upon leaving the last
destination point, a deviating truck shall return to the truck route
by the shortest permissible route.

A. The
City Clerk shall keep and maintain accurate maps setting out truck
routes and streets upon which truck traffic is permitted. The maps
shall be kept on file in the office of the City Clerk and shall be
available to the public.
B. The
Chief of Police of the City shall cause all truck routes and those
streets upon which truck traffic is prohibited to be clearly signposted
to give notice that the provisions of this Article are in effect.
No person shall be charged with violating the provisions of this Article
by reason of operating a truck upon a street wherein truck travel
is prohibited unless appropriate signs are posted on such street.
