There is hereby established a special reserve police force to
be known as the Eureka Reserve Police Unit.

The Board of Aldermen shall appoint the officers of the Eureka
Reserve Police Unit, who shall serve at the will of the Board of Aldermen
upon recommendation of the Chief of Police and shall serve at the
direction of the Chief of Police.

The Chief of Police is hereby authorized to establish procedures,
rules, regulations and minimum training requirements with respect
to the officers of the Eureka Reserve Police Unit.

Officers of the Eureka Reserve Police Unit shall take an oath
of office following their appointment and shall wear a uniform and
shield or badge similar to those worn by officers of the city's
regular police force.

Officers of the Eureka Reserve Police Unit shall assist the
officers of the city's police force in the discharge of their
duties.

Officers of the Eureka Reserve Police Unit shall be under and
subject to the orders of the Chief of Police and other officers of
the regular police force of the City.

Officers of the Eureka Reserve Police Unit shall, while on duty
and in uniform, be authorized to carry side arms and the other equipment
used by officers of the regular police force.

Officers of the Eureka Reserve Police Unit shall receive no
monetary compensation for the discharge of their duties. The City
shall provide uniforms, weapons and equipment for such reserve police
officers as is deemed necessary by the Eureka Chief of Police.
