There shall be an Assistant City Clerk who shall be appointed
by the City Clerk subject to the confirmation of the Municipal Council
and who may be removed by the City Clerk, for cause, subject to the
approval of the Municipal Council. Such Assistant shall assist the
City Clerk in the performance of the duties of the City Clerk's office
and shall discharge the duties of the City Clerk when thereto requested
by the City Clerk, when that officer is absent or unable to act, and
also when there is a vacancy in the office of the City Clerk.
Additional clerical assistance in the offices at the City Hall
may be employed by the heads of departments when necessary, subject
to the approval of the Municipal Council.
