The Municipal Council may grant, and may suspend or revoke at
pleasure, a license, which shall be subject to MGL c. 140, §§ 202
to 205, inclusive, to a person to keep a billiard or pool table or
a bowling alley for hire, gain, or reward, to be used for amusement
merely and not for the purpose of gaming for money or property.
A. The City
Clerk shall issue such license authorized by the Council upon the
payment of the following fees:
(1) In
the case of billiard or pool tables, a fee of $50 for the first table
licensed at an establishment and $15 for each additional table licensed
at said establishment.
(2) In
the case of bowling alleys, a fee of $40 for the first alley licensed
at an establishment and $10 for each additional alley licensed at
said establishment.
B. Each such
license shall run for a period of one year and shall expire upon May
1 following.
Whoever without a license keeps or suffers to be kept in a house,
building, yard or premises actually occupied or owned by him/her a
table for the purpose of playing at billiards or pool, or a bowling
alley, for hire, gain or reward, or whoever for hire, gain or reward
suffers any person to resort thereto for such purpose shall be punished
by a fine not exceeding $300.
