The Board of Health shall consist of three physicians. They
shall be chosen for the term of three years by the Municipal Council
in January of each year on a staggered basis. The term of office of
the members of the Board of Health shall begin on the first Monday
of February next succeeding their election. Any member of the Board
of Health may be removed by the Municipal Council for cause after
due notice and hearing. Any vacancy on the Board shall be filled by
the Municipal Council in like manner for the unexpired term.
The Board of Health may appoint suitable persons to act as its
agents. In default of any appointment of an agent and in any case
whenever requested by the Board of Health, the Chief of Police and
subordinate officers shall carry into execution all rules and regulations
made by the Board of Health, and all provisions of these Revised Ordinances
and other ordinances of the City, respecting nuisances, sources of
filth and causes of sickness within the City, and respecting articles
containing or conveying infection or contagion or creating sickness
brought into the City, and shall immediately report thereon to the
Board of Health, and shall under the direction of that Board cause
all such nuisances, sources of filth and causes of sickness to be
forthwith abated.

Pursuant to § 53E1/2 of Chapter 44 of the Massachusetts
General Laws, and every other pertinent authority, there is hereby
established a revolving fund to be called the "Board of Health Outreach
Fund" (Fund). The programs and activities for which the Fund may be
expended are any outreach program that the Board of Health deems appropriate
in its sole discretion. The departmental receipts that shall be credited
to the Fund shall be any and all payments received in accordance with
Paragraph 5 of the Eight Amendment to Landfill Operations Agreement
between the City of Taunton and Waste Management of Massachusetts,
Inc., dated October 26, 2015. The board authorized to expend from
such Fund is the Board of Health. The Fund shall in all respects be
governed by § 53E1/2 of Chapter 44 of the Massachusetts
General Laws, as same may be amended from time to time.
