[HISTORY: Adopted by the Municipal Council of the City of Taunton as Rev. Ords. 1964, §§ 1-7 to 1-11 (§§ 1-6 to 1-10 of the 2010 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
Every ordinance shall, except when otherwise ordered, be published in accordance with MGL c. 43, § 23. Every ordinance consolidating and arranging the ordinances shall be exempt from the foregoing provision, shall be published by the action of the Municipal Council in passing the same, and shall be printed and bound in such manner as the Municipal Council may order.

All ordinances shall be recorded at length by the City Clerk, in the order in which they shall be passed, in a book kept for that purpose.

All ordinances approved by the Municipal Council and signed by the City Solicitor and Mayor or approved over the Mayor's veto shall be placed in the charge of the City Clerk for distribution to municipal departments affected by the ordinance revision and any municipal department requesting in writing that all ordinances be distributed to it.
Whenever an ordinance, order, resolution or vote shall be passed by the Municipal Council which is required by law to be presented to the Mayor for approval, the City Clerk shall without unnecessary delay present the same to the Mayor and enter upon the records of the Municipal Council the dates of the presentation and approval thereof.
Every ordinance, repeal or amendment of an ordinance, order or resolution shall, when it is not otherwise provided therein, take effect at the expiration of 10 days after it is signed by the Mayor. If such ordinance, repeal or amendment, order or resolution is not returned by the Mayor within 10 days after presentation thereof to the Mayor, it shall take effect after the expiration of 10 days from the date when the same was so presented.
