A. 
The following is a list of all animals and reptiles prohibited at parades and special events in the City of Butler. These animals and reptiles are hereby designated as a prohibited species:
(1) 
Any snake, spider or any animal or reptile whose bite or sting is poisonous or harmful to humans.
(2) 
Any reptile of any kind capable of causing injury to a child or disabled person, including but not limited to snakes.
(3) 
Any mountain lion, cougar, ocelot, lynx, bobcat, lion, tiger, or any other member of the cat family other than domesticated house cats, capable of causing injury to a child or disabled person.
(4) 
Any primate, such as gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans, monkeys, gibbons, or any such primate in the same family.
It shall be unlawful for any person to possess, control or maintain any wild or exotic animal which is designated as a prohibited species (as set forth in § 104-19) upon any public street, in a public park, in a public building or on any other public grounds, even if said wild or exotic animal is leashed or within the control of the owner or custodian, within the area where the public has gathered for a parade, athletic event, festival or special event in the City of Butler.
The person, firm or corporation conducting or organizing an athletic event, festival or special event within the City of Butler shall be responsible to post a notice to the public that wild or exotic animals are prohibited at the event. Such posting shall be of a size and quantity to provide notice of the prohibition against wild or exotic animals to all attendees.
Any person who shall violate any provision of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $25 and not more than $300, plus costs, or to imprisonment for a term not to exceed 30 days.
This article shall become effective 10 days after final passage and approval by the City Council.
