Section 510.600 Private Driveway Minimum Design Standards.

A. Driveways are privately-owned roads which connect buildings, parking lots and other areas with public roads and highways. A permit from MoDOT if the driveway accesses the State routes. A permit from Road and Bridge Department is required to access the County roads.

B. The driveway shall not cause any interference with free and safe movement of roadway traffic.

C. Exceptions to the following design guidelines are at the discretion of the Cass County Road and Bridge Superintendent.

Section 510.610 Private Driveway Design Criteria.

A. The driveway centerline shall be constructed at a ninety degree (90°) angle or as close as practical to a ninety degree (90°) angle to the roadway centerline.

B. A radius of five (5) feet to fifteen (15) feet shall be used for driveway surfacing where the driveway intersects roadway.

C. The minimum driveway width shall be ten (10) feet, the maximum driveway width shall be twenty (20) feet.

D. A pipe shall be placed under the driveway to maintain road ditch stormwater flow as required by the Cass County Road and Bridge Superintendent.

1. Pipe size and location to be determined by geometrics and drainage conditions.

2. The minimum pipe size shall be fifteen (15) inch diameter.

3. The minimum pipe length shall be thirty (30) feet.

E. The driveway shall slope away from the roadway to provide a break point a minimum of four (4) inches below and a distance of ten (10) feet from the edge of roadway.

F. Only one (1) driveway per residence shall be allowed onto a road with a traffic volume of five hundred (500) vehicles per average day or greater.

G. A minimum distance of ten (10) feet shall be allowed from driveway edge to driveway edge for driveway serving adjacent properties.

H. The minimum sight distance for a driveway intersecting the roadway shall be two hundred fifty (250) feet, with a roadway operating speed of thirty-five (35) mph, measured from the driveway centerline.

I. The minimum distance from a road-road intersection to a driveway shall be two hundred fifty (250) feet.

J. Field entrance driveway locations shall be as approved by the Cass County Road and Bridge Superintendent.

K. A driveway permit is required prior to construction (permit form on file in the County offices).

C. The minimum one-way driveway width shall be twelve (12) feet, the maximum one-way driveway width shall be thirty (30) feet.

D. The minimum two-way driveway width shall be twenty-four (24) feet, the maximum two-way driveway width shall be sixty (60) feet.

E. A pipe shall be place under the driveway to maintain road ditch stormwater flow as required by the Cass County Road and Bridge Superintendent.

1. Pipe size and location to be determined by geometrics and drainage conditions.

2. The minimum pipe size shall be fifteen (15) inch diameter.

3. The minimum pipe length shall be determined by the depth and location of the road ditch.

F. The driveway shall slope away from the roadway to provide a break point a minimum of four (4) inches below and a distance of ten (10) feet from the edge of roadway.

G. A minimum distance of four hundred forty (440) feet shall be allowed from driveway edge to driveway edge for driveways serving adjacent properties.

H. The minimum sight distance for a driveway intersecting the roadway shall be two hundred fifty (250) feet, with a roadway operating speed of thirty-five (35) mph, measured from the driveway centerline.

I. The minimum distance from a road-road intersection to a driveway shall be two hundred fifty (250) feet.
