There is hereby established in the Borough of Sharon Hill a
Planning Commission to consist of seven persons; said Commission members
shall be appointed by the Borough Council and shall serve for terms
of four years or until their successors are appointed and qualified.
The terms of Planning Commission members shall be so fixed such that
no more than two shall be reappointed or replaced in any calendar
year. All persons appointed as Planning Commission members and serving
in non-holdover status as of the adoption hereof shall continue to
serve in their unexpired terms as previously fixed by the Borough
Council. Members of the Commission shall serve without pay.
The Planning Commission shall have the power to prepare a Comprehensive
Plan; to prepare and maintain an Official Map and to make recommendations
to Borough Council on proposed changes or amendments to such map or
to the Zoning Ordinance;[1] to prepare and administer subdivision and land development
regulations and planned residential development regulations; to make
recommendations to Borough Council on proposed amendments to the building
code[2] or housing code;[3] to recommend a capital improvements program; to promote
public interest in and understanding of the Comprehensive Plan and
planning; to make recommendations to government, civic and private
agencies and individuals as to the effectiveness of the proposals
of such agencies and individuals; and to hold public hearings and
meetings.
