For the purposes of this article, the following terms and words
shall have the meanings indicated:
Any member of the Felidae family and any member of the feline
family.
Any person in possession of or harboring any cat or who shall
suffer any such animal to remain about his premises for a period of
10 days.
A.
It shall be unlawful for any owner of any cat to permit, knowingly
or unknowingly, such cat to run at large or to stray beyond the limits
or premises of its owner unless under the control of some responsible
person by leash or otherwise. Any cat not under said control of some
responsible person, found in any street or other public place or on
the premises of a private person, provided that such person makes
a written complaint to the Borough Police Department, shall be deemed
to be running at large; and it shall be lawful for the Borough to
cause such cat to be trapped and impounded by the police or other
duly designated representative or agent of the Borough of Sharon Hill,
herein collectively called "officer," and such officer is empowered
to pursue such cat into any building or other enclosure to seize it.
B.
It shall be unlawful for any household to have any more than two
cats in a residence.
C.
It shall be unlawful for any person to breed or engage in the breeding
of cats.
D.
Any person who shall violate this section of this article is hereby
subject to a fine of $300 for the first violation hereof and to an
additional fine of $300 for each subsequent offense, in addition to
all other penalties listed in this chapter.
Any owner of a cat desiring to redeem such cat from the pound
shall have the right to claim such cat upon payment of the costs of
impoundment. Any cat not claimed within 10 days of seizure shall be
disposed of by sale or humane destruction.
Any person who shall be convicted of a violation of any of the
provisions of this article before any Magisterial District Judge shall
be sentenced to pay a maximum fine as provided from time to time by
state statute, together with costs of prosecution, or to imprisonment
in the county jail for a term not to exceed 30 days, or both.
