For the purpose of this chapter and in the interpretation and application of all other ordinances and resolutions heretofore or hereafter adopted by the Township, except as the context may otherwise require, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
ADMINISTRATOR
The Business Administrator appointed pursuant to the Charter.
CHARITABLE INSTITUTION
Any corporation organized under Titles 15 and 15A of the New Jersey Statutes.

CHARTER or TOWNSHIP CHARTER
Mayor-Council Plan E of Chapter 210 of the New Jersey Laws of 1950, as amended and supplemented,[1] and any and all general laws as therein defined which are or may be applicable to the Township.
CLERK or TOWNSHIP CLERK
The Municipal Clerk duly appointed pursuant to the Charter.
COUNCIL
The members of the Township Council constituted pursuant to the Charter.
DEPARTMENT
An organization unit or group of organization units of the Township government designated as a department by this chapter.
DIRECTOR
The individual placed in charge of a department's activities pursuant to the Charter.
ENTITY SUPPORTED BY PUBLIC FUNDS
Any nonprofit organization whose principal purpose is to promote the public welfare, including but not limited to corporations, partnerships, associations, societies or chapters which receive funds equal to but not less than 20% of its annual operating budget from the federal, state, county or Township governments or from any lawfully created subdivision of such government or governments, including but not limited to fire companies and ambulance squads.

GOVERNING BODY
The Council created and constituted pursuant to the Charter.
GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY
The federal, state, county or Township governments and/or lawfully created subdivisions of one or more of those forms of governments, including but not limited to utility authorities, agencies, boards and commissions.

MAYOR
The individual serving as chief executive officer of the Township pursuant to the Charter.
MONTH
A calendar month, unless otherwise specifically provided.
PERSON
Any individual, corporation, firm, partnership, association, organization or other entity.
RELIGIOUS INSTITUTION
Any group, partnership, limited partnership or corporation whose primary purpose is religious in nature and is organized under Title 16 of the New Jersey Statutes.

TOWNSHIP
The Township of Mount Olive in the County of Morris, State of New Jersey, as governed by the provisions of the Charter.
YEAR
A calendar year, unless otherwise specifically provided.

This chapter shall be known and may be referred to as the "Administrative Code (1972)" and is sometimes referred to herein as the "code."
For the purposes of the Administrative Code and any other ordinances heretofore or hereafter adopted, except as the content may otherwise require:
A. 
The present tense includes the past and future tenses, and the future, the present.
B. 
The masculine gender includes the feminine and neuter.
C. 
The singular number includes the plural, and the plural, the singular.
D. 
The time within which an act is to be done shall be computed by excluding the first and including the last day; and if the last day is a Sunday or a legal holiday, that day shall be excluded.
E. 
The terms "writing" and "written" include printing, typewriting, stencil, duplicating and any other visual mode of reproducing words or figures on paper-like material which is in general use.
All ordinances and resolutions heretofore adopted by the Township are in full force and effect to the extent that they are not inconsistent with the Charter or this chapter.[1]
