The Fire Chief or the Chief of the Bureau of Fire Prevention shall determine the establishment of fire lanes on private property designated for public use and on public ways and report such determination to the City Council, which shall designate such lanes as fire lanes. The designation by the City Council shall never be held to make the City responsible for maintenance of or snow removal on such lanes, but the owner of such property shall continue to be responsible for the maintenance of and snow removal on such areas.
Upon designation of a fire lane pursuant to the provisions of this article, the Fire Chief shall give notice of such designation to the owner of such area, directing the owner to cause signs to be posted, at the expense of the owner, at designated locations, lettered "Fire Lane — No Parking Any Time." Such signs shall be standard size and printed in red and mounted in specific areas established by the Fire Chief. Official records of designation and location of fire lanes shall be kept in the office of the Fire Chief.
Each fire lane designated pursuant to this article shall be a distance of 12 feet from the curbing of a sidewalk in a shopping center, bowling establishment, theater, school, church or other designated location. Where no sidewalk or curbing exists, the distance shall be 18 feet from a building or such other distance as the situation may warrant.
It shall be unlawful for any person to obstruct or park or leave unattended any vehicle within any fire lane designated under the provisions of this article at any time.
Any vehicle which shall obstruct or is found parked or left unattended in fire lanes designated under the provisions of this article shall be removed under the provisions of Chapter 70, Traffic, § 70-315, of the City Code.
Fire lanes shall be established in the City as indicated in the following table:

From Lane #1 at the Elsbree Street parking lot, including the entire entrance to the Luke Urban Auditorium to Lane #3 located on the southeast side of Building #1, being 21 feet wide and a distance of approximately 550 feet.
(3)
From Lane #4 to the east main entrance to Building #3, being 21 feet wide and a distance of approximately 350 feet.
(4)
From Gate #2, the south entrance on Elsbree Street, to the south entrance of Building #3, being 26 feet wide and a distance of approximately 710 feet.
(5)
From Lane #4 around the south side of Building #3 to Lane #6, being 21 feet wide and a distance of approximately 620 feet.

From the Pleasant Street entrance on the west side of Durfee Mill Picker House #2 (such entrance being on the east side of Union Mill #2), then running south along the western perimeter of Durfee Mill Picker House #2, Durfee Mill Boiler House #2, and Durfee Mill Storage House #2, and continuing to the southwest corner of Durfee Mill Storage House #2, then turning west to intersect with the fire lane described in Subsection (2) of the Union Mill Site below.

Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village

(a)
The fire lanes designated for Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village under the provisions of this article shall be nine nonconnected fire lanes around the horseshoes, described as follows:
(1)
The lane shall run from a point 150 feet east of Wall Street and run south on the south horseshoe for a distance of 240 feet.
(2)
The lane shall run from a point beginning 70 feet from the terminus of the fire lane described in Subsection (a)(1) of this Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village section and around the curve in an easterly direction for 50 feet.
(3)
The lane shall run from a point beginning 70 feet and around the curve from the terminus of the fire lane described in Subsection (a)(2) of this Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village section in a northerly direction for 240 feet.
(4)
The lane shall run from a point 150 feet east of Wall Street and run north on the north horseshoe for a distance of 240 feet.
(5)
The lane shall run from a point beginning 70 feet from the terminus of the fire lane described in Subsection (a)(4) of this Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village section and around the curve in an easterly direction for 50 feet.
(6)
The lane shall run from a point beginning 70 feet and around the curve from the terminus of the fire lane described in Subsection (a)(5) of this Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village section in a southerly direction for 240 feet.
(7)
The lane shall run from a point of 175 feet east of Wall Street and run east on Beauregard Street for a distance of 140 feet on the north and south sides.
(8)
The lane shall run from a point beginning on Beauregard Street at the intersection of Johnson Street and run east for a distance of 240 feet on the north side.
(9)
The lane shall run from a point beginning on Beauregard Street at the intersection of Johnson Street and run east for a distance of 45 feet on the south side.
(b)
As prescribed by 527 CMR 10.3(10)(a), fire lanes will be a minimum of 18 feet wide and will preclude parking on either side of the locations described in this Father Vincent Francis Diaferio Village section.
Fordney Street Apartments
(1)
The south lane from Fordney Street westerly for a distance of 237 feet.
(2)
The north lane from Fordney Street westerly for a distance of 310 feet.
Flint Village Plaza, 933 Pleasant Street

The lane beginning at the southeast corner of the building and running in a northerly direction for 140 feet, turning and running in a westerly direction for 246 feet, turning and running in a northerly direction for 141 feet.

Frank B. Oliveira Apartments
The lane on the east side of Beach Street northerly from the corner of William Street and Beach Street, crossing the driveway, and continuing to the end of the street, a distance of 180 feet.
Harbour Mall
(1)
Access roads/routes to the main shopping mall (with Bradlee's at the west end and K-Mart at the east end) and to the Stop & Shop (located at the southwest corner of the property), shall be considered fire lanes and have a clearance of a minimum of 18 feet at all times.
(2)
From the southwest corner of Bradlee's and running to the southeast corner of K-Mart, a fire lane no less than 12 feet wide from the curbing, with such fire lane continuing around the entire building with a width no less than 18 feet from the building's foundation.
(3)
Running around the perimeter of the Stop & Shop, a fire lane of no less than 12 feet in width on the north side and 18 feet on all other sides.
(4)
Running around the entire perimeter of the property boundaries, a fire lane of no less than 18 feet in width.
(5)
Any other areas as may be designated by the Chief of the Fire Department.
Heritage Heights

(1)
Beginning at a point running from Green Street running down the main entrance road in a westerly direction to the Management Office (Building 7) for a distance of 98 feet on the north side of the roadway and 78 feet on the south side of the roadway.

The fire lane will run from the Middle Street entrance parallel with the rear of the North Addition/MRI Dock 106 feet; turn left, parallel with the South Addition 19 feet to the patient drop off, pick up and handicapped area which measures 40 feet and continue from that point an additional 19 feet parallel with the East Addition ending at the end of the curb at the Ambulance Bay.
