There is hereby created, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:60-6b(3), the office of Environmental Protection Officer.

The Environmental Protection Officer shall be appointed from among the members of the Environmental Commission[1] according to the method specified in N.J.S.A. 40A:60-5g.

The Environmental Protection Officer shall receive a salary as provided by the Salary Ordinance of the Borough.[1]

The Environmental Protection Officer shall have the power to enforce the powers delegated to the Commission under § 15-3 of the Code of the Borough of Somerdale and shall, further, have the police power to lodge complaints in courts of appropriate jurisdiction or before appropriate tribunals against violators of any environmental rules, regulations and standards established by the municipality, State of New Jersey or federal government.
