GENERAL REFERENCES
Animals — See Ch. 117.
No pigs or swine are to be raised, kept, harbored or maintained
in any part of the Borough of Somerdale where the same may be prohibited
by any Zoning Ordinance heretofore or hereafter made and adopted,[1] and none shall be raised, kept, harbored or maintained
within 500 feet of any dwelling in any district which may permit the
raising, keeping, harboring and maintenance of pigs and swine.
Any person raising, keeping or harboring any cows, chickens,
horses or other animals or maintaining any stable, barn, chicken house,
building or enclosure or yard for the keeping of any animal or animals
shall maintain the same in a clean and sanitary manner so as not to
emit any noxious or offensive odors. Horses and ponies shall be limited
to one per residence.
No such live poultry, cows, horses and ponies shall be kept
less than 100 feet away from the doors or windows of any building
in the Borough occupied by human beings, whether for dwelling or business
purposes.
No poultry, cows, horses or ponies shall be permitted to roam
at large, and all such beings shall be securely confined upon the
property of the owners thereof.
A four-foot fence shall exist suitable to contain animals previously stated in § 263-2. This fence will be constructed from split-rail four-board posts or an equivalent wood fencing or wire fencing suitable to the containing of the animal.
A.
All animals shall be subject to inspection of the Camden County Health
Department.
B.
Vaccinations are required annually, and proof of such shall be submitted
to the Board of Health.
C.
Stables shall be suitable buildings with concrete floors and with
center drains connected to the sewer system for flushing and washing
down the floor.
Food for animals shall be kept in metal containers with tight
lids to prevent the drawing of rats or other vermin.
Manure shall be removed from the premises by the owner. There
shall be no piling up of manure on the premises nor pickup by the
Borough.
A.
Any person, persons, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions
and regulations of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, pay
a penalty of not less than $2 nor more than $500 for each violation,
in the discretion of the Judge before whom such conviction is had.
B.
Each day a particular violation continues shall constitute a separate
offense.
