(A)
In lieu of using any section of or in addition to the regulations of this Chapter 14, the officer issuing the citation may issue a citation under any of the sections of the Illinois Vehicle Code, 625 ILCS 5/1-100 et seq. The Illinois Vehicle Code, and all amendments made from time to time, is hereby incorporated by reference as a part of this chapter. Every numbered section in the Illinois Vehicle Code shall be referred to by the number "14" prefixing said section number. All citations so issued shall be issued in the name of the City of Hometown and referred to in the uniform traffic ticket or complaint as an ordinance violation. The penalties for traffic violations in this chapter shall apply to said violations, unless modified or changed by this chapter.
(B)
Any section of the Illinois Vehicle Code for which a violation is
deemed a Class A misdemeanor shall be treated as a petty offense where
such offense has been designated as an ordinance violation under this
chapter, and any reference in the Illinois Vehicle Code to a "Class
A Misdemeanor" shall be deemed replaced by the words "petty offense"
when written as an ordinance violation under this chapter. Such violations
shall be punishable by fine only in an amount not to exceed $500.
Except as otherwise provided herein, all words and phrases used
in this chapter shall have the same definitions as provided for in
the Illinois Vehicle Code.
All streets and portions of streets within the area designated as area "B-1" of Chapter 22, Zoning, of the City Code.
The division of the Hometown Police Department or, if not
established, the Hometown Police Department itself.
