GENERAL REFERENCES
Building code administration and enforcement — See Ch. 23.
General owners of buildings shall be required to display the street number which has been assigned by the Village to said building in the manner as set forth hereafter.
A. 
The owner shall display words or Arabic numbers to correspond with the assigned building number. The device or decal representing the number shall be no less than four inches in height with a minimum stroke width of 0.5 inch.[1]

B. 
The number or words shall be permanently affixed to the surface of the building and shall be of a contrasting color to said surface.
C. 
The numbers or words shall be affixed to a portion of the building so as to be readily observable from the street and, where possible, near a lighted surface of the building or near a building light so as to be more readily seen at night.
Any owner of a building who is in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter, upon conviction, shall be punishable by a maximum fine of $250 or by imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or both.

A. 
The Code Enforcement Officer of the Village of Fonda as designated by the Village Board shall have authority to inspect all premises within the Village to enforce the provision of this chapter.
B. 
If upon inspection of the property the Code Enforcement Officer of the Village of Fonda shall determine that a building is not in compliance with the provisions of this chapter, he shall file a written complaint with the Town Justice of the Town of Mohawk. In addition to the penalties above provided, the Village Board may also maintain an action or proceeding in the name of the Village in a court of competent jurisdiction to compel compliance with any section of this chapter.
All buildings in the Village of Fonda existing on the date of this chapter shall be required to be in compliance with this chapter within six months of its adoption and due publication.
