The Mayor may establish, with the approval of the Town Council, such committees as deemed necessary from time to time.

Unless otherwise determined by the Council, each committee shall consist of a minimum of three (3) volunteer members and a maximum of nine (9) volunteer members. The Mayor shall set an odd number of members for each committee, and shall nominate the members for each committee. The Town Council shall review and approve the nominations for each committee.

Unless otherwise determined by the Council, committee terms shall begin on January 1 and shall run for three (3) calendar years. The Mayor may propose a substitute member to fill a vacancy for the remainder of the three-year period of a term, subject to the approval of the appointment by the Town Council. There are no limits on the number of terms that may be served on a Town committee.

The Mayor shall nominate a chairperson for each committee, subject to the approval of the appointment by the Town Council. Unless otherwise determined by the Council, terms for chairpersons shall begin on January 1 and shall run for one (1) calendar year. There are no limits on the number of times that an individual may be nominated and appointed as chairperson of a Town committee.

Each committee shall have one Councilmember liaison and one (1) Councilmember alternate. Liaisons are not voting members of the committees.

The Mayor shall make every effort to nominate committee slates that balance considerations of geographic, gender, and age diversity.
