The position of Health Officer is hereby established within the Department of Public Safety, Code Enforcement Division. The qualifications and responsibilities of the Health Officer shall be as set forth in Chapter 123 "Public Health" of the Third Class City Code (Act of Nov. 24, 2015, P.L. 242, No. 67 Cl. 11)[1] as enabled by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and City Code Chapter 358, Tattoo and Body-Piercing Establishment.

The City Manager shall nominate a candidate that meets the qualifications under Chapter 123 of the Third Class City Code for appointment by City Council.
The Health Officer shall be compensated at a rate set, from time to time, by ordinance of City Council.
