The words and phrases used in this chapter shall for the purpose of this chapter have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by Article 1 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York.
A. 
Applicability. The provisions of this section shall apply except when it is necessary to stop a vehicle to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or official traffic control device.
B. 
Stopping, standing or parking prohibited in designated locations. The stopping, standing or parking of vehicles is hereby prohibited in any of the following locations:

When any vehicle is parked or abandoned on any highway within this Town where stopping, standing or parking is prohibited, said vehicle may be removed at the direction of the Town. The Town shall promptly contact a towing service and order the vehicle removed at the owner's expense. In order to redeem a vehicle, all expenses for removal and storage must be paid to the towing agency. The charge for a private towing agency shall be the rate set by the towing agency in its regular course of business.
A. 
Four-ton weight limit.

(1) 
No trucks or vehicles in excess of four tons' gross weight shall be operated along and over the following:

(2) 
Exception. This subsection shall not prohibit the operation of any commercial vehicle on the highways so marked and designated which is engaged in delivering or picking up materials or merchandise or obtaining ingress to or egress from a place of business, provided such vehicle shall have entered the highway at an intersection nearest the destination of the vehicle and shall proceed thereon no further than the nearest intersection thereafter.
(3) 
Emergency vehicles. Nothing herein contained shall be construed to prohibit the operation of police or fire vehicles, ambulances and other emergency vehicles upon Town highways.
B. 
Five-ton weight limit. It shall be unlawful to operate any truck, commercial vehicle, tractor or tractor-trailer combination in excess of five tons' gross weight on the following streets in the Town of LaFayette. This restriction shall not apply to school buses, vehicles operated by the Town of LaFayette, farm trucks, farm equipment, private vehicles which are used to pick up and remove debris, and private vehicles used to provide service to residents along these streets.
