[HISTORY: Adopted by the Mayor and Council of Borough of Penns Grove 3-1-1994 by Ord. No. 94-5 (Ch. 2 of the 1986 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
There shall be recognized by the Borough of Penns Grove an ambulance squad, pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40:5-2 and 40A:14-26, named the "Penns Grove Ambulance Squad."
The Ambulance Squad shall consist of those officers and members named in the bylaws of the Penns Grove Ambulance Squad.
It shall be the responsibility of all members of the Penns Grove Ambulance Squad to provide emergency rescue and first aid to those in need in the Borough of Penns Grove.
A. 
The membership of the Ambulance Squad of the Borough of Penns Grove shall have the right and authority from time to time to adopt and amend bylaws which will provide for the orderly regulation of the Ambulance Squad of the Borough of Penns Grove. The Borough Council may approve bylaws adopted by the voting members of the Ambulance Squad of the Borough of Penns Grove.
B. 
The Borough Council shall have the right and authority from time to time to make further rules and regulations, in addition to any approval of the bylaws of the Ambulance Squad of the Borough of Penns Grove, concerning the Ambulance Squad of the Borough of Penns Grove by resolution.

The officers and members of the Ambulance Squad shall receive financial compensation for their services at the discretion of the Borough Council. Notwithstanding the volunteer status of the Penns Grove Ambulance Squad, the Borough of Penns Grove shall maintain, other than workers' compensation, casualty and liability insurance coverage on behalf of said volunteer organization in consideration for its charitable service.
