There is hereby created the position of Code Enforcement Officer for the Borough of Barnegat Light.
The Code Enforcement Officer shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Borough Council and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and Borough Council.

A. 
The Code Enforcement Officer shall conduct field inspections and special investigations to ensure compliance with variance municipal ordinances, enforce rules and regulations related to the enforcement of ordinances, prepare reports, maintain files and records, and perform all such duties as are assigned from time to time by the Mayor, Borough Council and/or Borough Administrator.
B. 
In addition, the Borough Code Enforcement Officer shall have the power to revoke any permit and issue a stop-work order where the requirements of the Borough's ordinances are being violated, and to issue violation notices assessing a penalty of $200 per day until any such violation is abated and brought into compliance.
Compensation for the Code Enforcement Officer shall be determined by the Mayor and Borough Council from time to time, which shall be in accordance with the Salary Ordinance of the Borough of Barnegat Light.[1]
