All dwelling houses stores and places of business of any kind fronting on any road, street or alley of this Borough shall be numbered in the manner provided by this Part.

The buildings on Main Street commencing at the Borough limits on the West shall be numbered as follows; Beginning at Third Street the houses shall be numbered from 300 to a number not to exceed 400; the Fourth square from 400 to a number not exceeding 500 and to each and every subsequent and additional block not exceeding 100. All those streets or alleys North or South of Main Street and running parallel with Main Street shall be numbered in the same manner as Main Street, said number to begin at the Borough limits on the West; the buildings on all those streets or alleys running North or South from Main Street shall be numbered from said Main Street beginning at one and not to exceed more than 100 twenty-foot building lots for each and every square. The numbers on the first block of Front Street shall begin at proposed Main Street and number North to a number not to exceed 100. The second block shall begin at a point 575 feet South of the South curbline of Fulton Street and number North from that point to a number not exceeding 200.

Each street or alley shall be numbered by itself and, on each side of the same alternately thus placing the odd numbers on the North and East sides of the streets and the even numbers on the South and West sides of the streets, allowing a number for every 20 feet of front as the buildings thereon may render necessary, and inserting half numbers when required by additional entrances; and in all cases of churches, schools houses, stables, manufactories, and other large buildings or vacant lots a number for every 20 feet of frontage shall be assigned.

The numbers of dwelling houses, stores, and places of business shall be subject to the approval of Town Council, however they shall not be less than two inches high and of proportionate width, and shall be placed in a conspicuous place on the building facing the street within 30 days after a written or printed notification of the number of the premises shall have been given to the owner of the same, his attorney or agent, and in case he shall refuse or neglect to affix the number assigned within the 90 days after the said notification has been served, the Burgess shall cause said dwelling house, store or place of business to be numbered and the owner thereof or his attorney or agent as aforesaid shall be liable to a penalty of $5, to be chargeable against the property and collected as taxes of the Borough are now collected, out of which sum the expenses of numbering the same shall be paid.

The name of every street and alley in the Borough shall be plainly displayed at the corners of intersecting streets and alleys, the letters not to be less than two inches high and of proportionate width.

The Council be and is hereby authorized to contract with some competent person or persons who shall assign the numbers as aforesaid, and to furnish the owner, attorney or agent of any dwelling house, store or place of business, his number, or numbers and put up the same for a sum not exceeding $0.10 for each and every number so furnished and put up; provided said owner, his agent or attorney shall not elect to have his premises numbered with a neater or more expensive number than the one offered in pursuance of this Part.

The Council may be and is hereby authorized and required to cause said numbering to be commenced and completed as soon as practical; provided that the cost of assigning the numbers shall not be more than $0.10 for each and every number so assigned.
