In addition to the residency requirements established by law for qualifications to hold the office of Councilperson, all persons elected to the office of Councilperson shall at all times maintain residency in the ward in which the person was duly elected, except as follows. In the event of ward redistricting (redrawing of ward boundaries), a Councilperson, whose residence has been assigned to a ward other than the ward in which he/she was elected, shall continue in office as a representative of the ward which elected him/her for the remainder of the term to which he/she was elected.
