The Board of Aldermen shall elect a Clerk for such Board of
Aldermen, to be known as the "City Clerk," whose duties and term of
office shall be fixed by ordinance. Among other things, the City Clerk
shall attend Board of Aldermen meetings and keep a journal of the
proceedings of the Board of Aldermen and all ordinances passed from
time to time. He/she shall safely and properly keep all the records
and papers belonging to the City which may be entrusted to his/her
care; he/she shall be the general accountant of the City; he/she is
hereby empowered to administer official oaths and oaths to persons
certifying to demands or claims against the City, affix the Seal of
the City of Jonesburg to public instruments and documents as required,
attest to and countersign official acts of the Mayor as required by
law or ordinance, draw all warrants on City Treasurer, issue notice
to all officers of their election or appointment, file and attest
to all papers and documents, provide pollbook at the City election,
procure all necessary books, stationery, and issue and deliver to
the Collector every license required by ordinance for which application
shall have been made, and additional duties as from time to time ordered
by the Board of Aldermen.
