As used in this Chapter, the term "vending machine" shall mean any mechanical machine, apparatus or device made to operate
or to function by the deposit of money or coin, which shall include,
but not be limited to, pinball machines, jukeboxes, bowling alleys,
shuffleboard tables, or courts, shooting galleries, hobby horse machines,
or other automatic coin-operated amusement machines, automatic laundry
washing and drying machines, automatic dry cleaning machines, automatic
candy, food and drink dispensers or other coin-operated food vending
machines, automatic cigarette, magazine and book dispensers or other
coin-operated merchandise vending machines. Coin-operated telephones
and any coin-operated machine accepting only pennies shall be exempted
from the licensing provisions herein.

A. No
person, firm, corporation, partnership, association or company shall
own, place, rent, manage, keep, maintain or operate a vending machine
within the City of Edmundson without first having obtained a license
for each vending machine from the City Clerk and paying a tax thereon
in the amount of twenty dollars ($20.00) per year and every license
shall be for one (1) year from the first (1st) day of July through
the thirtieth (30th) day of June each year.
B. No
person, firm, corporation, partnership, association or company shall
own, place, rent, manage, keep, maintain or operate a vending machine
within the City of Edmundson without there being affixed thereto in
a prominent place visible to the public the name of the owner and
the owner's address and phone number.
C. Exception. Any self-serve laundry which bases its entire business on the provision and operation of coin-operated laundry machines shall not be required to obtain a business license under this Chapter if the business obtained a business license for operation of a self-serve laundry under Chapter
605 of the Code and paid the required fee therefor.

The provisions this Chapter shall not apply to coin-operated
self-service laundries and dry cleaning establishments when licensed
under other applicable Sections of this Chapter.

A person, firm, partnership, corporation, association, company
or organization violating any of the provisions of this Chapter shall
be guilty of an offense. In the event any owner of said vending machine
violates any provisions of this Chapter of the Code of the City of
Edmundson for a continuous period in excess of thirty (30) days after
notice of such violation has been mailed to said owner, the Treasurer
or Collector for said City may seize said vending machine or device.
Said device may be sold at public auction in the event the owner does
not comply with the provisions of this Chapter of the Code after thirty
(30) days prior notice of said sale having been mailed to the owner
of said device. The proceeds of any such sale shall be considered
general revenue of the City of Edmundson.

Each license issued under this Chapter shall be conspicuously
posted on the vending machine and shall not be transferable.
