The Village of Bannockburn Board of Trustees hereby authorizes
changing the Village of Bannockburn work period for all nonexempt
staff to a seven-day, forty-hour work period. The work period will
begin at 12:00 midnight weekly on Sunday and will end at 11:59:59
p.m. on the following Saturday. When hours worked cross over the above-defined
work period, the end of the scheduled shift will constitute the applicable
work day in the determination of hours worked.
The Police Chief (for police staff) and the Village Manager
(for non-police staff) may permit the accrual of compensatory time,
at 1 1/2 times the overtime hours worked, but in no event shall
the amount of accrued compensatory time for any employee at any time
exceed 60 hours. Staff requests for overtime pay, rather than compensatory
time, will be honored; to the extent practical and in compliance with
the aforementioned sixty-hour limit, staff requests for the accrual
of compensatory time shall be honored.
Such new rules and policy shall be in all respects consistent
with Section 7(k) of the Fair Labor Standards Act [29 U.S.C. § 207(k)].
[Added 12-11-2023 by Ord. No. 2023-17]
The Village shall hereby provide every employee (whether full-time,
part-time, or seasonal) not less than two hours of paid time off annually.
To the extent that the Village establishes, from time to time, personnel
policies extending a greater amount of paid leave, the amount of paid
leave set forth in such policies shall apply to employees in accordance
with the conditions and limitations of such policies. To the extent
that a collective bargaining agreement sets forth standards different
than the personnel policies established by the Village, the terms
of the collective bargaining agreement shall control to the extent
permitted by law. Any paid time off shall be administered in accordance
with the conditions and limitations of such personnel policies or
(where applicable) collective bargaining agreements.
