Words and phrases when used in this article
shall have the meanings ascribed to them in the Vehicle Code of Pennsylvania,
as now in force, or as hereafter amended, enacted or reenacted. The
singular shall include the plural, and the masculine shall include
the feminine. The word "highway" shall include all public thoroughfares
for vehicles in the Township, including, but not limited by enumeration
to, streets, highways, lanes, alleys, boulevards, avenues, etc.

The Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, or
his designated official, shall have the following powers to regulate
traffic and parking temporarily and in times of emergency:
A.
In the case of fire, flood, storm or other emergency,
to establish temporary traffic and parking regulations.
B.
In the case of emergency or to facilitate public works
or in the case of the conduct of processions and public events, to
restrict or prohibit parking or traffic in limited areas for periods
of not more than 24 hours. Such temporary and emergency regulations
shall be enforced by the police of the Township in the same manner
as permanent regulations. In the event the permit is to cover a state
highway, the Township will also have to request approval in advance
from the Pennsylvania Department of Highways.[1]

The Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, or
his designated official, shall further have the power and authority
to establish, change and abolish, and to designate by appropriate
markings or signs, crosswalks, traffic lanes and parking spaces.
The police officers of the Township are hereby
given authority to direct traffic on the highways of the Township
and at intersections thereof.

No person shall operate any motor vehicle longitudinally
or diagonally upon any sidewalk in the Township; nor shall any person
operate any vehicle upon or across any sidewalk except in order to
gain access to or egress from a driveway or alley either at such locations
where the curb, if such sidewalk is curbed, shall have been cut down
for the purpose or at such location, if not curbed, as shall provide
the most direct access.

The operator of any motor vehicle involved in
an accident in the Township of East Cocalico and required by law to
report such accident to any department or agency of the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania, or any other person required to make such report,
shall, at the time of making such report to the commonwealth, make
a written report to the Chief of Police of the Township containing
the same information.

The Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, or
his designated official, is hereby authorized to designate as "play
highways," whenever he deems such action advisable and for whatever
reasonable period of time directed by him, any portion of any street
or alley in the Township (other than a state highway) whereupon sledding
and coasting shall be permitted. Such highways shall be set apart
and marked off for this purpose on orders of the Chairman of the Board
of Supervisors or his designated official and shall be manned by a
police officer whenever the regulations of this section are in force.
No person shall operate a motor vehicle or horse-drawn vehicle upon
any play highway at any time when such highway shall be so designated,
except, in cases of emergency, with special permission of the Chairman
of the Board of Supervisors or his designated official or of the police
officer in charge, who shall first clear such play highway of all
persons using such highway for the purpose for which it was set apart.

A twenty-ton weight limit shall be established
on the Kramer Mill Road Bridge over Little Muddy Creek for single
vehicles and 28 tons for combination vehicles. Any person violating
the provision of this section shall, upon conviction before a District
Justice of a summary offense, be sentenced to pay a fine of $150 plus
$150 for each 500 pounds, or part thereof, in excess of 3,000 pounds
over the maximum allowable weight.

GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING (GVWR)
LOCAL DELIVERIES
TRUCK
Definitions. The following definitions are applicable to this section:
Defined as the maximum registered operating weight of a vehicle
as specified by the manufacturer including the vehicle's chassis,
body, engine, engine fluids, fuel, accessories, driver, passengers
and cargo.
Are defined as deliveries or services going to or from a
residence, commercial establishment, or farm located on a posted highway
or which can be reach only via a posted highway.
Defined as a motor vehicle designed, used or maintained primarily
for the transportation of property.
B.
Trucks prohibited on certain Township roads except those trucks making
local deliveries.

0272) and South Reamstown Road (T700);

On Ridge Avenue (T937) between Church Street (SR 1051) and Glenwood
Drive (T670);
(3)
On Glenwood Drive (T670) between South Rearnstown Road (T700)
and Valley View Drive (SR 1049);
(4)
On Ebersole Road (T746) between South Reamstown Road (T700)
and Ridge Avenue (T937);
(5)
On Ream Road (T714) between South Reamstown Road (T700) and
Ridge Avenue (T937);
(6)
On Kramer Mill Road (T876) between North Reading Road (SR 272)
and Sharp Avenue (T935);
(7)
On Lausch Road (T963) between North Reamstown Road (T700) and
Trost Road (T953);
(8)
On Napierville Road (T674) between Hahnstown Road (SR 1051)
and Frysville Road (T810);
(9)
On Landis Road (T878) between Napierville Road (T674) and Martin
Road (T957);
(10)
On Faust Lane (T701) between North Reading Road (SR 272) and
West Church Street (SR 1051); and
(11)
On Keeler Avenue (T702) between North Reading Road (SR 272)
and West Church Street (SR 1051).

Trucks prohibited on certain Township roads in excess of 26,000 pounds
gvwr, except those trucks making local deliveries.

The following are hereby established as special purpose parking
zones, and it shall be unlawful for any person to park any vehicle
or allow the same to remain parked in any such zone except as specified
provided for in such zones.
A.
Handicapped parking spaces.
(1)
No person shall park or stop an attended or unattended motor
vehicle in any area indicating handicapped parking in the Township
of East Cocalico when said signs are duly erected as authorized by
ordinance of the Township of East Cocalico from time to time, including
the following, hereby authorized and ordained:

There shall be no parking until snow is removed on certain cul-de-sac
streets and other streets. "No parking until snow is removed" signs
shall be established on the following streets:

Any person violating the provisions of this
article shall, upon conviction, be subject to the appropriate penalties
as set forth under the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code (75 Pa.C.S.A. §
101 et seq.), and, in case no specific penalty is set under law, shall
be subject to a fine of $ 50, plus costs of prosecution and/or any
term of imprisonment authorized by law.
