A.ย 
The executive and administrative power of the Township shall be exercised by the Mayor.
B.ย 
The Mayor may assign and reassign, transfer and retransfer, either temporarily or permanently, any property or personnel from one function to another, or from one administrative unit to another as the efficient management of the Township government may require, subject to the express provisions of the Charter, this code, and other general law.
C.ย 
The Mayor shall have the power of appointment and removal of the Business Administrator and all department heads of the Township, except as provided by Charter, this code, or general law, and subject to ยงย 7-25.
D.ย 
The Mayor shall assign or approve the assignment of space in public buildings or other public places for the temporary or permanent use of any department, body, officer, agency or instrumentality, and shall, through the Business Administrator, control the assignment, allocation and use of furniture, equipment, or other public property in the Township government.
E.ย 
Subject to the provisions of this code, the Mayor may establish specific nonsalaried boards, authorities, committees or commissions or groups, and appoint the members thereof who shall serve at his/her pleasure.
The Mayor shall:
A.ย 
Enforce the Charter and the ordinances of the Township and all general laws applicable thereto.
B.ย 
Annually report to the Council and the public on the work of the previous year and on the condition and requirements of the Township government.
C.ย 
Make recommendations for action by the Council or programs as (s)he may deem necessary for the improvement of the Township and the welfare of its residents.
D.ย 
Supervise, direct and control all the departments of the Township government and require each department to make an annual and such other reports of its work as (s)he may deem desirable.
E.ย 
Prepare the Township's annual operating budget and capital budget with the assistance of the Business Administrator. No later than the month of November, the Mayor shall require all department heads to submit requests for appropriations for the ensuing budget year, and to appear before the Mayor or the Business Administrator at public hearings, which shall be held no later than the month of November. On or before the 15th day of January, the Mayor shall submit to Council his/her recommended budget, together with such explanatory comment or statement as (s)he may deem desirable.
F.ย 
Supervise the care and custody of all municipal property, institutions and agencies; make recommendations concerning the nature and location of municipal improvements and execute improvements determined by the Council.
G.ย 
Negotiate all contracts; sign all contracts, bonds, or other instruments requiring the consent of the Township.
H.ย 
Review, analyze, and forecast trends of municipal services and finances and programs of all boards, commissions, agencies, and other municipal bodies and report and recommend thereon to the Council.
I.ย 
Supervise the development, installation and maintenance of centralized budgeting, personnel and purchasing procedures as may be authorized by ordinance.
J.ย 
Assure that all terms and conditions imposed in favor of the municipality or its residents in any statute, franchise or contract are faithfully kept and performed.
K.ย 
Serve as an ex officio nonvoting member of all appointed bodies in municipal government of which (s)he is not an official voting member.
L.ย 
Fix the salary, wages or other compensation of certain employees of the administrative department who are not otherwise required to have their salaries set by ordinance.
The Mayor shall act on all ordinances adopted by the Council pursuant to the provisions of ยงย 7-15B, Submission of ordinances to Mayor, of this code.
The Mayor may attend meetings of Council and may take part in discussions of Council, but shall have no vote except in the case of a tie on the questions of filling a vacancy in the Council, in which case (s)he may cast the deciding vote.

A.ย 
The Mayor shall appoint a director to act as head of each department established pursuant to this code, or pursuant to any other ordinance, with the advice and consent of the Council.
B.ย 
Each department head shall serve during the term of office of the Mayor appointing him/her, and until the appointment and qualification of his/her successor.
C.ย 
A person may be appointed as a temporary director for a one-year term, or until the Director of Public Works is appointed, whichever is sooner, to implement an approved succession plan for a specified department with the advise and consent of Council. Said temporary director shall have the full authority and responsibilities of a director as set forth in this Code of Ordinances. Any appointment shall be to the end of the same calendar year.
The Mayor may, in his/her discretion, remove any department head and, subject to any general provisions of law concerning term of office or tenure, any other municipal executive officer who is not a subordinate departmental officer or employee, after notice and an opportunity to be heard. Prior to removal, the Mayor shall first file written notice of his/her intention with the Council, and such removal shall become effective on the 20th day after the filing of such notice, unless the Council shall prior thereto have adopted a resolution by a two-thirds vote of the whole number of the Council disapproving the removal.
The Mayor may appoint an administrative assistant, a secretary and other personnel as (s)he may deem necessary, and fix the amount of salary, wages or other compensation to be paid to such personnel.
The Mayor shall designate the Business Administrator, any other department head, or the Municipal Clerk to act as Mayor whenever the Mayor shall be prevented by absence from the Township, disability or other cause, from attending to the duties of his/her office. During such time, the person so designated by the Mayor shall possess all the rights, powers and duties of the Mayor. Whenever the Mayor shall have been unable to attend to the duties of his/her office for a period of 60 consecutive days for any of the above-stated reasons, an acting Mayor shall be appointed by the Council, who shall succeed to all the rights, powers and duties of the Mayor or the then acting Mayor.
The Mayor may delegate to the head of any department any functions, powers or duties conferred upon the Mayor by ordinance which is not required by Charter or general law to be performed or discharged personally by the Mayor.
The compensation of the Mayor shall be as provided by ordinance, to be paid as all other salaries are paid.
