The Township Engineer may recommend to the Municipal Council
the establishment of a curb loading zone upon the special request
of any applicant when, on the basis of a site inspection conducted
by the Township Engineer, it is determined that such curb loading
zone is necessary and justified by traffic conditions at the proposed
location. The days and hours for use of the curb loading zone will
be recommended to the Municipal Council by the Township Engineer based
upon the needs of the applicant and the current parking restrictions.
Vehicles loading, unloading, delivering or picking up freight
or materials shall be permitted to park in loading zones not to exceed
one hour, and vehicles shall not be left unattended.
With the consent of Council, the Township Engineer may terminate
any curb loading zone permit and remove the signs erected if payment
of the annual fee shall be 30 days in arrears, or whenever public
convenience or necessity warrants such action; provided that 30 days'
notice for such intended action shall be given to the person/business
to whom the permit has been issued.
No fee shall be required for the designation of a curb loading
zone at any government building, school or hospital.
For a curb loading zone involving new construction, the approval
of the loading zone is contingent upon Planning/Zoning Board approval
of the project being constructed. Planning/Zoning Board approval shall
not be required for previously existing improvements on a property.
