There is hereby created for the City of Seward a Board of Appeals. The Board of Appeals shall consist of seven members, including a master electrician, a master plumber, a mechanical contractor, a building contractor, an engineer, a member of the Fire Department, and a layperson. The Board of Appeals shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. Members of the Board of Appeals shall serve a term of four years, and said terms shall coincide with the term of the Mayor.
The duties of the Board of Appeals shall be as follows:
A. 
To adopt reasonable rules and regulations for conducting its investigations and hearings.
B. 
To review and decide appeals from determinations of the various code officials as to the suitability of alternate materials and types of installation.
C. 
To review and decide appeals from orders, decisions, or determinations made by the various code officials relative to the application and interpretation of the provisions of the International Building Code, the International Residential Code, the International Plumbing Code, the NEC Electrical Code, the International Mechanical Code, the International Fuel Gas Code, the Housing Code, and the International Property Maintenance Code.
