This chapter shall be known as the "Fonda Traffic Local Law."
Provisions of this chapter are supplementary to the provisions of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York, and all provisions of said Vehicle and Traffic Law shall continue in full force and effect within the Village of Fonda.
Nothing contained in or omitted from this chapter shall be construed, or held to relieve any person using, traveling, or being upon any street, for any purpose whatsoever, from exercising all reasonable care to avoid or prevent injury through collision with all other persons and vehicles.
A. 
The words and phrases used in this chapter shall, for the purposes of this chapter, have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by Article 1 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York.
B. 
The following words and phrases, which are not defined by Article 1 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York, shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section for the purposes of this chapter:
COMMERCIAL VEHICLE
Any combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, including the following types of vehicles: tractor-trailers, truck and trailer combinations, tank vehicles, livestock carriers, flatbeds, straight trucks, large passenger buses, box trucks, and dump trucks.

CURBLINE
The prolongation of the lateral line of a curb or, in the absence of a curb, the lateral boundary line of the roadway.
HOLIDAYS
New Year's Day, Lincoln's Birthday, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
NO PARKING
You can make a temporary stop to load or discharge merchandise or passengers,

NO STANDING
You can make a temporary stop to load or discharge passenger. The driver cannot exit the vehicle.

NO STOPPING
You can stop only to obey a traffic sign, signal or officer or to prevent conflicts with other vehicles.

OFFICIAL TIME STANDARD
Whenever certain hours are named herein or on traffic control devices, they shall mean the time standard which is in current use in this state.
