The Treasurer shall receive and safely keep all monies, warrants, books, bonds and obligations entrusted to his/her care and shall pay over all monies, bonds or other obligations of the City on warrants or orders duly drawn, passed or ordered by the Board of Aldermen and signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk and having the Seal of the City affixed thereto and not otherwise and shall perform such other duties as may be required of him/her by ordinance. Before entering upon the duties of his/her office, he/she shall give bond in the amount of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) or such higher sum as may be required by law or by direction of the Board of Aldermen. The cost of the bond shall be paid by the City.

A. 
As minimum qualifications, the Treasurer shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age, a registered voter in the state of Missouri, have paid all taxes owed to the City of which he/she lives, the State and county in which he/she resides in. The office of City Treasurer shall be an appointed position.
B. 
Compensation for the appointed Treasurer shall be fixed by the Board of Aldermen.
C. 
General Duties. The City Treasurer shall have all the duties and powers specifically assigned to the office by State law or any ordinance or resolution of the City.
