There is hereby created the Office of the City Collector, an
executive office of the City.

The City Clerk shall hold the office of City Collector and shall
perform all of the duties of City Collector as prescribed by ordinances
and the statutes of the State of Illinois.

Before entering upon the duties as City Collector, the person
so appointed shall tender a bond in such amount as may be determined
by the Council and with such sureties as it may approve.
It shall be the duty of the City Collector to collect and receive
all money due on special assessments, special taxes that are not paid
directly to the Treasurer, and all moneys due for gas, water and sewer
services. He shall keep such records pertaining to such collections
as may be required by statute or ordinance.

The City Collector shall make such reports regarding the collections
as are required by statute, and shall make a monthly report to the
City Council showing what money has been received and the source thereof.
The Collector shall also make an annual report during the last month
of the fiscal year showing all of the activities of his office, in
accordance with 65 ILCS 5/3.1-35-125.

The salary of the City Collector shall be as set from time to
time by ordinance.
