This article shall apply whenever a Fire Chief and/or the Fire Official of a district shall determine that on-site fire personnel shall be required for a fire watch as a result of a fire protection system failure or deficiency, or fire and safety at any occupancy, except that this article shall not apply to a one- or two-family residential property.
This article shall also apply whenever a Fire Chief and/or the Fire Official of a district shall determine that on-site fire personnel shall be required for a fire watch at a special event to ensure the safety of the public or emergency responders. The owner or occupant responsible shall be required to obtain a permit for the use or event. Said permit shall be issued by the respective local enforcing agency. A separate permit shall be required for each event or date of the event requiring a permit in the amounts as set forth in § 169-10, Fee Schedule, Fire Prevention.
If the Fire Chief and/or the Fire Official of the district shall determine fire watch to be necessary, they will also determine the number of personnel required and the times that the personnel shall be on duty.
Cost of personnel may be recovered by each respective fire district at a rate of $40 per hour, per man. The costs shall be waived for those organizations set forth in § 189-17. Each fire district shall be responsible to invoice owner/occupant, collect fees, and disperse fees to personnel under such procedures as they shall develop.
