The terms of office of the Mayor and of all the Trustees of the Village of Oakfield shall hereafter be four years.
The Village elections for the election of the Mayor and all the Trustees shall hereafter be held biennially on the third Tuesday in March in the even-numbered years.
A.ย 
Notwithstanding the provisions of ยงย 64-2 hereof, an election shall be held on the third Tuesday in March 1989 for the election of those Village Trustees and the Mayor regularly elected at the Village election in 1989, and the officials elected at such election shall serve for terms commencing upon the expiration of the terms of the incumbents of the respective offices and ending the first Monday in April following the Village election in the fifth calendar year following.
B.ย 
The successors of such Trustees and the Mayor so elected pursuant to ยงย 64-2 and Subsection A of this section thereafter shall be elected for a term of four official years.
This article is subject to a permissive referendum. This article shall take effect 30 days after its adoption, unless a referendum shall take place, in which event it shall take effect upon compliance with the provisions of Village Law Article 9.[1]

The term of office of the Clerk-Treasurer of the Village of Oakfield shall be extended to a term of four years, provided that the first term of office of the Clerk-Treasurer shall be five years so that such term shall expire at the end of the term of the Mayor then in office.
This article is subject to a permissive referendum. This article shall take effect 30 days after its adoption, unless a referendum shall take place, in which event it shall take effect upon compliance with the provisions of Village Law Article 9.[1]
