A. 
All water main pipe shall be ductile iron pipe conforming to AWWA specification C-151 (ANSI A21.51), minimum thickness Class 52 or pressure Class 350.
B. 
All pipe shall have a minimum nominal laying length of 18 feet.
C. 
Pipe joints shall be push-on joints or mechanical joints conforming to AWWA C-111 (ANSI 21.11).
D. 
All pipe shall be cement-mortar-lined in accordance with AWWA C-104 (ANSI A21.4).

All water main fittings shall be ductile iron fittings confirming to AWWA specifications C-110 (ANSI 21.10).
B. 
Fittings shall be epoxy-lined in accordance with AWWA C-104 (ANSI A21.4).
A. 
Valves 12 inches and smaller shall be cast iron body, bronze fitted, modified disc, resilient seat type with nonrising stem and O-ring packing conforming to AWWA C-509. Valves shall open counterclockwise.
B. 
Valves larger than 12 inches shall be ductile iron body, rubber sealed, tight closure butterfly valves conforming to AWWA C-504. Valves shall be Class 150 B and shall open counterclockwise and be operated by a two-inch-square nut. Valves shall be Pratt-Groundhog Butterfly, Mueller Lineseal III, or approval equal.
C. 
Other valves may be allowed upon review and approval of the City Engineer.
A. 
Valve boxes shall be three-piece cast iron compatible with size and type of valve protected and have cover marked with the word "water."
B. 
Valve boxes shall extend to finished grade.
A. 
Hydrants shall be waterous and shall conform to AWWA C-502.
B. 
Hydrants shall be compression type with a five-and-one-fourth-inch minimum size main valve assembly, O-ring seals, two two-and-one-half-inch hose nozzles, and a four-and-one-half-inch pumper nozzle with National Standard threads, a National Standard operating nut, and an aboveground break flange.
C. 
Hydrants shall be provided with a six-inch resilient seat-type gate valve with valve boxes and cover marked with the word "water."
D. 
Hydrants shall be painted yellow in color as directed by the City.
A. 
All water service lines two inches in diameter or smaller shall be constructed of Type K copper with compression or pack-joint fittings. Service lines greater than two inches shall be ductile iron pipe conforming to allowable water main material specifications.
B. 
Service connection to the water main for services less than two inches in diameter shall be made by a corporation stop Ford F1000-4. Service connections to the water main for services three inches or larger shall be made with a ductile iron fitting conforming to water main fitting specifications.
C. 
Each service less than two inches in diameter shall have a curb stop Ford B44-444 and a curb box Ford EA2-50-50 with stationary rod. Services three inches and larger shall have gate valves conforming to water main gate valve specifications.
D. 
Shall be tapped in upper 1/3 of pipe, between the 10:00 and 2:00 position.
Pipe bedding shall be MDOT Class II granular material.
