There is hereby established the office of Deputy Tax Collector.

The Deputy Tax Collector shall be appointed annually by the Borough and when so appointed, the term shall run for one year from January 1 in the year of such appointment and until a successor is appointed and qualified.
The Deputy Tax Collector shall be chosen on the basis of administrative abilities and qualifications, shall be a graduate of a duly accredited college or university and shall possess a certified tax collector certificate issued by the State of New Jersey.
The Deputy Tax Collector shall perform such duties, under the direction of the Tax Collector, as the Borough may prescribe.
During the absence, death or disability of the Tax Collector, the Deputy Tax Collector shall have all the powers of the Tax Collector and shall exercise and perform the functions and duties of such office.
The Deputy Tax Collector shall be bonded for the faithful performance of tax collection duties as required by the Borough and as provided by law.
The Deputy Tax Collector shall receive such compensation as set by the Borough salary ordinances from time to time.
