The Police Department, under the supervision of the Chief of Police, appointed as specified by § 200-7 of this Administrative Code, shall consist of such forces of permanent officers, special officers and civilian employees as may be recommended by the Chief and approved by the Town Manager and shall consist of the following functions: patrol, criminal investigations, prosecution, communications and administrative.
The Police Chief shall be responsible for the following functions:
A. 
Enforcement of all laws and ordinances of the State of New Hampshire and the Town of Raymond that come under the jurisdiction of the Police Department.
B. 
Protection of life and property, which includes the prevention of criminality.
C. 
Maintenance and care of all property assigned to the Police Department.
D. 
Reduction and suppression of crime and apprehension of offenders.
E. 
Prevention of crime and maintenance of peace and order.
F. 
Regulate traffic and perform miscellaneous calls for service.
G. 
Investigation of all crimes involving serious misdemeanors and felonies and all other cases as may be assigned.
H. 
Preparation and maintenance of all necessary records pertaining to the Police Department.
I. 
Preparation, application and monitoring of all grants received from federal and state agencies.
J. 
Preparation and presentation of all Department cases in the Rockingham County Court, Auburn District Court and Rockingham Superior Court.
K. 
Maintenance of an Animal Control Officer position that will be responsible to attend to all complaints and other matters pertaining to dogs and other animals. This shall include keeping of the animal pound.
L. 
Perform all other related functions as required.
M. 
Perform all work subject to the guidelines delineated in the Police Department Manual.
