N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.10 requires a Municipality to designate or create the position of Chief Financial Officer.

The Chief Financial Officer is the person who is a certified municipal finance officer appointed by a Municipality to carry out the responsibilities set forth under P.L. 1947, c. 151 (N.J.S.A. 52:27BB-26 et seq.) by this law and further reference can be found in N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.10 et seq., as amended.
The position of Chief Financial Officer is hereby established in the Township of Fairfield, County of Cumberland, and State of New Jersey, as of the effective date of this article.
