To preserve the "small town" quality and feel of the Village that is heavily shaped by the attributes, integrity, and historical character of existing residential and commercial structures and properties.
This chapter shall apply to all structures and properties lying within our Village limits and shall consider the following:
A. 
Preserving the historic integrity of our Village.
B. 
Serving as a valid tool to be used to ensure the accuracy of Village assessment records.
C. 
Improving our community by working within our established building code
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
BUILDING
Any structure having a roof and walls built and maintained to shelter human activity or property.
DEMOLITION/DEMOLISH
To tear down, remove, or destroy any building or structure so that is no longer standing or functional.
No buildings and structures shall be demolished unless a valid demolition permit has been issued and no structure may be constructed in its place unless a valid building permit has been issued.
The Village Code Enforcement Officer bears the responsibility to approve demolition and building permits based on Village Code. It is possible that certain cases may be referred to the Village Planning/Zoning Board for evaluation and comment.
