The Mayor, with the consent and approval of a majority of the members elected to the Board of Aldermen, shall appoint an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri as City Attorney. The City Attorney shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen. The City Attorney may be, but is not required to be, the same attorney as appointed as City Prosecutor. The City Attorney may be an individual or a law firm; however, if a law firm is appointed, such firm shall designate, to the satisfaction of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, one attorney to be the primary attorney. The City Attorney shall be compensated in accordance with a contract for professional services entered into between the City and such individual or law firm adopted by resolution.
