All dwellings and business establishments within Hamiltonban Township shall have the identifying address number displayed on the dwelling or business establishment and mailbox. These numbers shall be posted near the principal entrance to the dwelling or business establishment, must be at least three inches in height and of contrasting color to their background. In the event that there is no mailbox, the identifying number shall be posted on a remote signpost at the entrance to the driveway. On mailboxes, the number which must be of a material that reflects light, shall be displayed on both sides of the mailbox, and in the event of a row of mailboxes, the numbers shall be placed on the front of the mailbox. If the dwelling or business establishment is located on a common drive and/or private lane with forks or branches, a remote signpost listing all addresses on that fork is required at the entrance of each branch or fork. All numbers shall remain free from obstruction of any kind, including but not limited to flags, newspaper boxes, plants, ornaments, etc., and shall be maintained, repaired and/or replaced as necessary to conform with this chapter.
Upon notification of noncompliance by any Township authorized representative, including the Township Code Enforcement Officer and/or Township Zoning Officer, the notified party shall have 30 days to comply with this chapter. The notification must be written.
The Township Secretary and/or Township Zoning Officer issuing building permits for the Township shall inform the person to whom the permit is issued of the requirements of this chapter.
Any person who shall violate the provisions of § 244-1 of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof before the Magisterial District Judge, be sentenced to pay a fine of no less than $100 and nor more than $500, together with the costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo an imprisonment for not more than 10 days, provided each day's violation of this chapter shall constitute a separate violation once notice has been given to the party violating the chapter by any Township-authorized representative, including the Township Code Enforcement Officer and/or Township Zoning Officer pursuant to § 244-2 hereof.
The Board of Supervisors, at their sole discretion, may amend this chapter at any time, if deemed necessary, by resolution.
