Composting is permitted in the City of Bloomington under the following conditions:
A. 
Compost must be contained in approved bins;
B. 
Compost must consist of approved organic material;
C. 
Compost must be properly maintained;
D. 
Compost must be properly located on property.

A. 
Only the following organic material grown on the property containing the compost bin is permitted for composting. The transferring of organic material from another property for composting is not permitted, nor is store purchased material permitted for composting.
B. 
Approved material for composting include, and are limited to:
(1) 
Leaves.
(2) 
Wood chips and twigs.
(3) 
Raw fruit or raw vegetable waste.
(4) 
Sawdust.
(5) 
Cornstalks.
(6) 
Grass clippings.
